The Blackfoot Language and Culture Program consists of the following interconnected components that work together to support language revitalization, cultural knowledge, and community well-being.
- Blackfoot language curriculum development – Creation of K-12, land-based, and adult education curriculum designed to increase language fluency for all students.
- Values-based K-12 Curriculum – Lessons and Blackfoot phrases from Piikani Elder guidance and Piikanissini. This curriculum strengthens students’ sense of Piikani identity, belonging, and pride.
- Land-based curriculum – Instruction for all grade levels, including post-secondary, focused on teaching from and about the land we come from.
- Adult education – Opportunities for adult learners to develop Blackfoot language skills and cultural knowledge.
- Dual-credit opportunities (BKFT 30/BKFT 1000) – Pathways for high-school students to earn both high school and post-secondary credit in Blackfoot courses.
